A young driver from Steinbach was handed a hefty fine on Saturday evening after getting caught speeding into Dugald

Springfield Police noticed a vehicle driving into the town at 180 kilometers per hour on Provincial Road 206.

During the traffic stop, police report that a 17-year-old driver from Steinbach explained that he was running late to pick up friends in town.

The youth received a speeding ticket for $1,097 and a serious offence notice to discuss the future of their driver’s licence with Manitoba Public Insurance.

Springfield Police state that speeds of this nature dramatically increase the chances of catastrophic collisions, risking the safety of the driver and their passengers, as well as all users of our roadways.
