Haying season is underway, and in fact some producers have finished their first cut already.
Glenn Friesen is a forage business development specialist with Manitoba Agriculture.  He says typically growers aim for mid-June as a target for a first cut.  This year Friesen feels the crop is 7 to 10 days ahead of average.  Because of the warm weather so far this growing season, and ample amounts of moisture, he expects average to above average yields with excellent crop quality.
