A semi crash on the Trans-Canada Highway just east of Winnipeg is currently impacting traffic in both directions.

Witnesses say that a semi travelling westbound appeared to lose control and go into the eastbound lanes.

It is currently jackknifed across the eastbound lanes after the Deacon's Corner intersection.

The westbound lanes are also reduced to one lane while emergency crews respond.

Snow and wind have caused some tough driving conditions in some areas.

Highway 1 from Highway 12 to Winnipeg has fair visibility, but there is black ice in areas according to witnesses.

Callers say that Highway 59 south of Winnipeg has near whiteout conditions at times.

Motorists are reminded to turn their vehicle's lights on to help other drivers with visibility.
