Rest Haven’s new addition hasn’t gone unnoticed. Over the past three years, this large construction project has taken shape at the corner of Woodhaven Avenue and Giesbrecht Street. Now, they’re ready to welcome the public.

David Driedger is CEO of HavenGroup. He says they’re very excited about Rest Haven’s upcoming grand opening.

“It's been a long journey and we want to recognize this milestone and recognize the community and how they’ve contributed to it,” shares Driedger. “So we’re planning to have the official opening celebration on May 13th at 1:30 in the afternoon.”

Rest Haven Care Home has come a long way since its inception in 1946, when it housed just six residents. Today, the expanded facility will accommodate 143 people.

Driedger says this has been a very special project because of all the local investment.

“This is built for the community by the community,” shares Driedger. “But in addition to that, more beds at Rest Haven in Steinbach means more people will be able to be served here in Steinbach.”

The new facility will feature 12 households, with 12 residents per household. Driedger says there will also be a lot of common area space and amenities.

“Each household will have a common living are and a patio living area and meals will be served in each household,” explains Driedger. “The list of new features just goes on and on. It also has a large atrium space available for families to visit residents, perhaps have faspa together, just a space to congregate and enjoy being together.”

Driedger says they’re excited to present a new facility that allows residents a good amount of space for themselves, while living in a congregant setting. He says this way residents can enjoy community life, and families have spaces to visit, play games, and gather.

“For the community at large, it will be exciting to have family members receive care here in their home community,” relates Driedger.

The public is invited to join HavenGroup for the grand opening of Rest Haven’s new addition on Friday May 13th. Doors will open at 1:00, the opening ceremony begins at 1:30, and tours will take place at 2:00, at which point refreshments will also be served.

Driedger requests that attendees either park on the street or at the nearby EFC Church on Giesbrecht Street.
