Steinbach Deputy Fire Chief Don Smith says local firefighters will soon receive crystal meth training. The province is stepping up its training to include more front-line personnel.  Firefighters will be taught how to detect labs, recognize the hazards and protect themselves.  Smith says it is very important for firefighters to have this training.  He says there are situations where adding water to a meth lab could set off an explosion and it is necessary for rescue workers to recognize the danger.  Smith does not know when the online training will be made available.
