With spraying season underway it's important to keep safety in mind.
Manitoba Farm Safety Co-ordindator Glen Blahey says proper use and handling of chemicals is important, and wearing the proper safety equipment is key.  He suggests goggles, face shields, respirators, aprons, and Neoprene gloves should be used.  Blahey adds once spraying is complete, proper disposal of empty containers is necessary.  Information on authorized disposal sites is available on the Government of Manitoba's website.
Blahey notes burning containers is not an option as the fire created on most farms will not be hot enough to break down the plastic or chemicals.
