Power Failures St. Pierre To Sprague

There are widespread power outages this morning in the St. Pierre, St. Malo, Grunthal, Vita, Sprague and Whiteshell areas.

Crews from Manitoba Hydro are out making repairs but the utility says it does not know when service will be restored. Hydro spokesperson Anthony Koop says snow laden trees are falling onto power lines causing the outages. In one case, at Westhawk Lake, a line was down across the road. Koop says if you come across and downed or sagging line, do not approach it and call Manitoba Hydro immediately. He says outages will continue throughout the day due to the wet snow and wind.
