The Winnipeg Goldeyes will meet the St. Paul Saints tonight at Shaw Park in game one of the American Baseball Association's best-of-five Division Series. Ace Walker will get the start for the Goldeyes who captured the North Division pennant with a 60-40 record. The Saints beat the Gary SouthShore RailCats 9-7 on the final day of the regular season schedule and qualified for the post-season by winning the wildcard race.
Matt Friesen asked Goldeyes manager Rick Forney to comment on the post-season.
Winnipeg second baseman Price Kendall was named the American Association's Rookie of the Year. The Vacaville, California native played in all 100 games for the Goldeyes this season and finished with a .324 batting average. He led Winnipeg in hits with 135, which marks the first time in club history a rookie has led the team in hits. Kendall also added two home runs, 54 RBI, stole 22 bases and led the team with 83 runs scored.
