Some people in Deerfield Estates feel disconnected from the rest of Steinbach.
Kevin and Melissa Friesen have written city council asking for a walking and cycling path that would provide a more direct link. They say it's not fair they have to use Highway #52 to walk or cycle to and from other parts of the city. Many councillors agree but say it's a matter of money. Mayor Chris Goertzen notes the city's long term plan includes such regional pathways. But council must decide which ones are priorities and when to commit funding. The Deerfield request will be included in upcoming budget deliberations.
