A group of students from the Steinbach Regional have used their Dragon Boat race to support a local cause.
Teacher Debra Langhan says 90 students making up four teams raised a total of $9,000 for the Bethesda Foundation. The school has had a Dragon Boat team for the past six years and will be racing this Sunday. Langhan says the thing she enjoys most is seeing a group of 20 students working together in one boat as a team. Grade 10 student Jordan was this years top fundraiser bringing in $856. His motivation was knowing the money will be used in our community and recognizing the Bethesda Foundation as a great cause. Langhan notes each year the number of students getting involved in Dragon Boat racing has grown and she hopes interest will continue to be strong in future years.
