A rich part of Manitoba history will be reenacted next summer. An ox cart train will travel from Emerson to St. Norbert next July as part of a celebration of Metis culture. The event is being spearheaded by a Metis group in St. Norbert.

Emerson mayor Wayne Arseny says it will be a unique event for people to be a part of and watch.

He adds, "It's an opportunity for people to learn a bit about the Metis culture, partake in watching the ox carts drive by and almost every night there's the campfire with the fiddle music and all the good food, bannock and everything else."

The ox cart train will travel on the west side of the river starting July 1st, 2012 and will make stops in communities along the way. Arseny says the trip will take about 9 or 10 days to complete.
