One individual has been airlifted to the Health Sciences Centre following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1.

Tache Fire Chief Allen Rau says they were called to the collision around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.

“One person was crossing at the 206 northbound to cross the eastbound lanes [of highway 1]. They didn't proceed appropriately and got t-boned for lack of a better word. That person went into the ditch and we had to extricate one individual from that vehicle and they were transported by STARS.”

Rau says the extent of the individual’s injuries isn’t known at this time.

The Eastbound lanes of Highway 1 were completely closed to traffic while emergency crews tended to the collision, however, Rau says the scene has since been cleared and the Eastbound lanes were re-opened to traffic around 5:50 P.M.
