An old parked truck spontaneously ignited at a residence off of Main Street Marchand this morning.

According to La Broquerie Deputy Fire Chief JC Normandeau, after the owner realized his truck was on fire at around 8:00 AM, he pulled it away from his house and immediately called the fire department.

When crews arrived, Normandeau says the flames were 10 feet high.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within the hour, but its cause is still unknown.

Normandeau says this is the second unusual vehicle fire the department has attended in the past few days. He encourages motorists who hear strange noises under their hoods to assume the worst and have it checked by a mechanic as soon as possible.

Firefighters do not yet know what caused the old truck to catch fire
