Excitement is building among families in Richer regarding a new community playground. Brent Wery, President of the Richer Community Club, says their current play structure is about 30 years old and has served its purpose. He adds the new equipment costs about $40,000.00 and will be a welcome change for children.
"It looks pretty big with a very modern design, kind of the same idea as what you see at most community centres around the province. It's made by Fisher Price. Its going to have slides and different areas where the kids can go in and play on."
Wery says a grant from Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries will pay half the cost of the structure while the RM of Ste. Anne, local businesses and individuals have contributed the rest. He expects assembly will be completed in the next week or two. He adds this is a big deal for Richer.
"The kids are excited and the moms and dads are excited to bring their kids out. We host a couple of big events in our park and it's going to see a a lot of use from people attending those activities as well."
