A full and a part-time doctor have been hired to serve at Open Health Niverville.

“One of our goals as a clinic remains to expand our services in order to reach a large population in the southern Manitoba area,” says Business Manager Kristen Fyfe.

Fyfe shares that their newest recruit, Dr. Victoria Eguaoje will begin on a full-time basis on October 1st.

“She is an international medical graduate from the University of Benin, College of Medicine, in Nigeria, and has also completed a family medicine program form the Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba.”

Fyfe says the process of recruiting Dr. Eguaoje began last year and was a collaborative effort with Southern Health. “It is good to see doctors of all backgrounds being interested in joining our clinic and increasing our offering and service to our community.”

This newest hire comes close on the heels of the part-time hire of Dr. Eileen Burnett in July. “She is joining us once per week on Mondays,” explains Fyfe, “and will be continuing her studies, pursuing a Masters in Public Health over the next three years while practicing at Open Health.”

Fyfe says Burnett, the daughter-in-law of Open Health founds Drs Chris and Mairi Burnett, is originally from Niverville and so is happy for the opportunity to give back.

“These two doctors joining us will allow us to continue to serve more individuals with their healthcare needs,” offers Fyfe, “and allow us to continue to accept new patients who are not already registered at our clinic.”
