The average age of residents in Steinbach is slowly climbing.

On Wednesday morning, Statistics Canada released its next round of data from the 2021 Census. It shows that the average age in Steinbach is 38.2 years, slightly up from 37.5 years in the 2016 Census.

The average age in Canada is 41.9 years and in Manitoba it is 39.7 years.

In the southeast, the municipality with the youngest population is La Broquerie at 31.3 years, while Piney has the oldest population at 45.9 years.

The average age for the other municipalities in the southeast is as follows:

  • Niverville - 33.2 years
  • Tache - 35.8 years
  • Ritchot - 37.8 years
  • De Salaberry - 38.1 years
  • RM of Ste. Anne - 38.5 years
  • Town of Ste. Anne - 38.9 years
  • St. Pierre - 38.9 years
  • Emerson-Franklin - 41.3 years
  • Stuartburn - 41.7 years
