Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach is not getting as much funding as hoped for from the city. But Executive Director Gary Martens says he is still extremely grateful for the extra money coming their way.  Martens requested a grant of $100,000.00 and in exchange the Museum would offer free admission to residents of Steinbach.  The city has decided to give the museum only $35,000.00 but with no strings attached.  Martens says offering free admission would cost the museum about $40,000.00 in lost revenue and without the $100,000.00 grant the Museum must charge full admission.  The extra money will be used to help pay for operations in 2007.
