Manitoba's unemployment rate went up two-tenths of a point last month to 5.7 per cent.

Statistics Canada reports the reason is that more people were looking for work. Data shows the number of jobs in our province actually increased in July.

Manitoba's unemployment rate is third lowest in Canada behind Saskatchewan(4.9%) and Alberta(5.5%)

Nationally, the jobless rate was down two-tenths of a point in July to 7.2 per cent.
