Manitoba Cattle Producers Association will not be meeting with the Premier and his caucus before summer.  The group wanted to discuss its concerns over the NDP's $2.00 per head cattle levy and the Manitoba Cattle Enhancement Council which will administer the funds.  The money raised will be used to expand slaughter capacity in the province.  Executive Director Keith Robertson is disappointed by the turn of events, as the Premier's office had committed to a meeting, but a firm date was not nailed down.
Robertson understands the Premier and his caucus have been busy in recent months, but so has the cattle industry.  He notes even with that being the case, MCPA would appreciate the opportunity to express the concerns of its members.  Robertson adds the organization will not be giving up on the idea of meeting with the Premier, and will continue to pursue the option.
