The Jake Epp Library in Steinbach will not be the quietest place to be for the next little while. That's because work is underway on the empty lot beside the library to turn it into a park.  Last summer the Loewen family announced the plans as part of the Centennial of C.T. Loewen's businesses which include C.T. Loewen Building Centre and Loewen Windows.  The family wanted to give something back to the city by creating a park where people could relax and learn the history behind one of Steinbach's founding fathers.  The park will be called the Helena Loewen Garden after C.T.'s wife who had her garden on that exact spot.  It will have walking paths with some plaques telling the history of that piece of land.  And they are working on incorporating some unique features such as a six foot saw blade.  The work should be almost finished by winter.
