A Paradise Village man’s Facebook post of 65 local species of birds is only about half of what he has photographed so far.

“I compile a list every year of birds who either, nest here, fly through, or are here year-round,” shares bird enthusiast Larry Trush, “we’ve got about 175 different birds.”

Of those 175 Manitoban birds, Trush has photographed 125 of them.

“I’ve been at it for a number of years and went to the Manitoba Naturalists,” explains Trush, “so I took a couple of courses with expert birders and got started.”

He goes on to mention the Purple Martin houses in the park and Hummingbirds that arrive because of all the flowers and shrubs.

“It keeps you sharp,” offers Trush as for some of the motivation for his hobby before adding, “if you can identify them.”
