The Hanover Kickers suffered their worst loss of the season on Wednesday night.

The Kickers dropped a 5-1 decision to Lions FC.

It was the Kickers third straight defeat and stretches their winless run to four games. It was also their worst loss in Steinbach this season.

The Lions struck early with an opening goal inside five minutes. They padded that just before halftime with a second goal after Kickers goalkeeper Roy Friesen lost a long shot in the setting sun.

Early in the second half, a third goal came Lions way before Eddie Boschmann pulled one back for the hosts.

Hanover then pressed the game looking to get to within one but were beaten on a pair of counter-attacking moves that allowed Lions to coast to victory.

Richard Blackwood led the way for the visitors with a pair of goals and the win allows Lions to overtake the Kickers and move into 4th place in the Manitoba Major Soccer League Premier Second Division standings.

Hanover are 5 points back of a promotion spot and now have a quick turn-around with an early season make-up game coming Friday night against NKMB Saints in Steinbach.
