The Winnipeg Jets inaugural Rookie Training Camp begins Saturday at MTS Iceplex at 2 p.m.. The Jets have invited 22 players to Rookie Camp which opens with medicals and followed by the first formal practice session at 2 p.m.

After a second practice session at 10 a.m. at MTS Iceplex on Sunday, the team will depart for Penticton, B.C. where they will participate in the Vancouver Canucks Young Stars Tournament from September 11th to 15th. The Jets future stars will play three games against prospects from the San Jose Sharks, Edmonton Oilers, & Vancouver Canucks before returning home.

The Winnipeg Jets Training Camp will begin Saturday, September 17th with the team’s first exhibition games occuring Tuesday, September 20th with a split-squad game versus the Columbus Blue Jackets. The game at MTS Centre will get underway at 7:30 p.m.

The Jets Rookie Camp roster consists of 22 players including first-round draft Mark Scheifele from the Barrie Colts, as well as other 2011 draftees Adam Lowry, Zach Yuen, and Austen Brassard. It also features a pair of Manitobans in Jason Gregoire from Winnipeg and Shayne Wiebe from Brandon. Carl Klingberg is the only player on the roster to have appeared in an NHL game, while the other players as a whole have played in 94 professional games at the American Hockey League or ECHL level. The most experienced player at the North American professional level is goalie Chris Carrozzi who has played in 47 games with the ECHL’s Gwinnett Gladiators, while Edward Pasquale has appeared in 24 games at the AHL level with the Chicago Wolves.
