The Winnipeg Jets lost their second straight game to start the season losing 4-3 in Chicago on Thursday night. Jim Slater tipped in a pair of goals to give Winnipeg a 2-0 lead before the game was even eight minutes old. However, Chicago replied with two of their own later in the period and two more to start the second to take a 4-2 lead. Kyle Wellwood's first of the season with 5:26 to play in the middle frame pulled the Jets to within a goal through 40 minutes. Blackhawks goaltender Ray Emery stopped all 11 shots he faced in the third securing the win for the 2010 Stanley Cup champions and sending Winnipeg to an 0-2 start. Ondrej Pavalec made 28 saves on 32 shots in the loss. The Winnipeg Jets will play in Phoenix on Saturday night in a game between the new Jets and the old Jets. The original Winnipeg NHL franchise moved to Phoenix in 1996. Winnipeg's next home game is Monday night against Pittsburgh.
