54 people have been charged with impaired driving during the first 2 weeks of the R.C.M.P. Holiday Checkstop Program in Manitoba.
175 checkstops were conducted and nearly 5,000 vehicles were stopped during the 2nd week.  Sergeant Wayne Blackmore with 'D' Division says of the 54 impaired driving charges, 19 of those came last week, compared to 9 during the same period a year ago.  There were also 106 people charged for not wearing their seatbelts and an additional 413 Provincial Statute charges laid.
