RCMP have identified the human remains discovered at Roseau River First Nation.

It has been determined to be those of 56-year-old Bud Paul from Winnipeg.

Paul was last seen on August 1st at a Manitoba Liquor Mart store with a man and a woman. He was reported missing on August the 7th, while his car was discovered burned in Winnipeg on August 10th. A day later his remains were found.

Investigators believe that those responsible for the murder continued to access Paul’s bank account and cellphone after his death.

RCMP say the man that parked Paul’s vehicle prior to it being burned, discarded evidence in a nearby garbage bin, however, the woman that was in the car has yet to be identified. Investigators say that speaking with the woman is essential to understanding what happened during Paul’s last days and cracking the case.

If anyone with information about the identity of the woman or Paul’s whereabouts between August 1st to the 10th is being asked to call the tip line at 431-489-8551.
