The Rural Municipality of Hanover will be doing some spring cleaning in its communities this weekend.

Wes Fehr, Manager of Public Works and Operations says street sweeping will happen beginning Friday.

Fehr says they will be in Blumenort and New Bothwell on Friday. The street sweeping will move to Grunthal and Kleefeld on Saturday. And, then Mitchell will get its turn on Sunday.

"Residents can definitely expect to see some sweeping activity happening within boulevards," Fehr explains. "And just trying to clean up the communities for the summer season."

Fehr says if residents and motorists could keep parking on streets to a minimum, that will allow the street sweepers to cover the streets from curb to curb.

"Just to make sure that we can actually get all the material that was deposited there over winter," he explains.

Meanwhile, Fehr says it was an average winter for the amount of sand that was deposited on streets in Hanover. However, he says street clearing did not happen as frequently this winter and so it might now look like there is more sand than normal.
