The Rural Municipality of Hanover will be doing some spring cleaning this weekend.

Weather permitting, the municipality will be sending a street sweeper into each of its five communities. According to the municipality, the work will begin Friday evening with sweepers tackling both Blumenort and New Bothwell. On Saturday during the day, they will hit Kleefeld and Grunthal, before moving to Mitchell Saturday evening and into Sunday.

The work is happening later in the spring than usual and considerably later than last year when crews did the work in late March already. Had the municipality attempted that this March, their sweepers would probably have got stuck in a snowdrift.

Residents and motorists are asked to avoid parking on the streets while crews are in their community.

Even though it was a colder winter with more snow, the municipality expects to clean up the same amount of debris as in other years.
