Adam Levesque scored a power-play goal midway through the third period to lift La Broquerie past Grunthal 5-4 in the lone Hanover-Tache Junior Hockey League game.
Andre Carriere, Thomas Jowett, Eric Laurin and Marty Lafleche also scored for the Habs who improved to 10 and 5. La Broquerie is two points back of the first place Steinbach Huskies. Kieran Klassen had a pair of goals for the Red Wings who dropped to 5 and 10 on the season. Jeff Penner and Cory Nedohen also scored for Grunthal. Tonight the Habs meet the Mohawks in Mitchell and the St.Pierre 59'ers host the Lorette Comets.

The Selkirk Steelers and Portage Terriers were winners in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Brent Howarth had two goals and an assist as the Steelers downed the Winnipeg Saints 5-2. Steinbach's Landon Kroeker stopped 52 shots in net for the Saints. Robbie Roteliuk had a goal and two helpers as the Terriers doubled up on Dauphin 4-2. Steinbach's Jeff Penner assisted on Luke Stokotelny's 16th goal of the season for the Kings. Tonight the Southeast Blades meet the Winnipeg South Blues at the Century Arena.

The City "AAA" Midget Hockey League's Eastman Selects will play a pair of games in Brandon today and tomorrow. The two teams will meet tonight at 6 p.m. at the Keystone Centre and then play Friday at 3 p.m. at the Optimist Arena.

Matt Plett scored his second goal of the game at 1:59 of overtime as the Carillon Senior Hockey League leading Mitchell Mohawks beat the St.Adolphe Hawks 7-6. Jon Schroeder also had a pair of goals for the Mohawks who have a three point lead on the second place La Broquerie Habs. Dave Barkman, Jason Plett and Andrew Fast also scored for Mitchell. Pat Power and Kevin Mamchuk had two goals each for the Hawks while the rest went to Serge Sylvestre and Vince Chernichan. St.Adolphe's record fell to 4-8-1.

The Provincial Junior Men's Curling Championships begins today in Rivers. Springfield's Curtis Joyal will meet Colton Lychuk of Thompson and Kevin Barkley of Brandon. The Provincial Junior Women's Championship is in Virden. Sherry Just of Springfield will open against Katie Spencer of Charleswood and Jolene Rutter of Miami.
