A pregnancy and infant loss peer support group is offering resources and grief support to parents locally and abroad.

The website angelbaby.ca can be accessed around the world and there are online support group sessions made available via Zoom.

Susan Penner of Steinbach believes there is more awareness of this topic now than ever before.

“For a lot of women, it's very devastating and there's a lot of grief,” she says. “And you know, when it happens with a miscarriage, sometimes that doesn't get the acknowledgement or validation that it should, but I think that's changing now. So that's one of the reasons we started this, is because women are becoming more open and want to share and want to grieve the baby they lost.

There are a variety of resources on this website including a memory wall.

"Women can go to the website and they can fill out what we call is a tile, a memorial basically, with the name of their baby, a tribute to their baby, that kind of thing,” she says. “So, that's also helpful.”

Penner says there are more parents reaching out to find support and to offer support.

In Canada, 15-25 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriageThis website is one way for parents to grieve and honour their baby and to know that they are not alone.
