Government will have to play a role in order for electricity produced on farm by anaerobic digestion and biogas to catch on in our country. That from Jake Debruyn an environmental engineer with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture.  In Ontario the government has set higher prices for electricty produced by renewable sources, with biogas set at 11 cents per kilowatt hour.  He notes this incentive is government stepping in and saying we are going to start driving renewable energy systems by offering a higher price for electricty produced through biogas.  Debruyn feels another key is not trying to reinvent the wheel becuase we can garner a lot from the European and American experience with biogas.
