This sight is a distant memory now that dust has become the hot button topic in Hanover

The RM of Hanover is still battling with road conditions but now it's not a matter of too much moisture.  In fact it's quite the opposite as dust control has become the hot button for local residents.  Reeve Stan Toews says driving conditions are getting better but it's getting very dusty and they are trying to apply dust control.

The problem Hanover is having is they can't get the product because the company that makes it is way behind in shipping.  Toews has been told that due to all the flooding in Minot, many of the rail cars were held up on sidings and were not able to get to Manitoba on time.  As a result it's a province wide shortage.  The RM is currently getting two or three truck loads per week where it normally can handle 10-15 truck loads per day.

Toews notes the RM is way behind in this process and figures they are only one third complete.  The dust control is being shipped as fast as the company can but each shipment is spread out between municipalities across the province so everybody is only getting a little bit at a time.

He adds residents are not too pleased with the delay and state the RM should long be done, which Toews agrees is true.

Meanwhile Toews explains the dust control is a liquid product.  A tanker truck is fitted across the back with a long bar filled with holes.  Municipal crews first put down water on the road and then a larger commercial truck follows with an application of the dust control liquid.
