A longtime resident of La Broquerie has decided to run for municipal council in Ward 2. Paul Gauthier says he has lived 39 of his 42 years in the municipality and his given a lot of time to hockey and baseball. He explains why he would like to serve on council.

"After talking to a few people, they convinced me to run. Growing up in the community with the sports, I really want to keep the low costs so we can, hopefully, get the community growing with that as an attraction."

Gauthier adds he would also like to get a discussion going about developing a splash park for younger children. He also wants to pay more attention to rural issues.

"I grew up living in the country so I know the frustrations of people who live in the country with road maintenance and snow clearing and stuff like that. So that is definitely a focus point that I would like to address if I get onto council. And also, Marchand, I had the privilege to play in a ball hockey fundraising tournament there for a couple of years and a little bit of upgrading needs to happen at that facility. That is something that would be on my agenda, for sure."

Gauthier is one of five candidates running for three seats in Ward 2 of La Broquerie.
