A man from Hanover faces a number of weapons charges after police seized several firearms earlier this week.

On Sunday at approximately 10:55 pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report from an individual who indicated that they had a firearm pointed in their direction from occupants in a suspicious vehicle in a local gravel pit. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene, though a description of this vehicle was provided to officers.

Patrols were made in the area and the suspect vehicle was later located at a residence in the Rural Municipality of Hanover. Officers arrested the male driver and male passenger in the vehicle, both 26-years of age, without incident. The officers were then told that the firearm, along with additional suspects linked to the vehicle, was inside the residence.

Using a loud hailer, officers instructed the occupants to exit the residence. A 41-year-old male complied with instructions and exited the home. Other occupants inside the home refused to cooperate with the officer's demands. The residence was entered and officers located a 38-year-old female and a 33-year-old male in the residence who were arrested without incident.

A search warrant was drafted and executed where officers located and seized several firearms and ammunition.

41-year-old Trevor Berg from the RM of Hanover was remanded into custody on charges including unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a firearm/ prohibited weapon.

33-year-old Daniel Foui of Winnipeg was charged with two counts of pointing a firearm as well as a charge of weapons possession contrary to order. He was released from police custody.
