The Manager of Fire Protection for the province says there was no change overnight in the forest fires in southeastern Manitoba. Gary Friesen says there was no change in size of either the fire near Badger or the one southeast of Marchand. He adds firefighters making good progress.

Friesen says he's pleased to see the forecast calls for winds to calm down this afternoon. "That'll definitely be a help. They were moderate to strong already this morning so that, of course, starts things off right away but the crews are out there and they're taking that into account."

Friesen says no communities are being threatened at this time and adds people are complying with the ban on back country travel.
