The province's commodity organizations have released a paper that details recommendations in response to the proposed regulations of the Water Protection Act.  Keystone Agricultural Producers President David Rolfe says it was important for a counter-proposal to be put forward to government.  He stresses it was key to have a broad representation of the agricultural sector develop and sign on to the document.  A total of 18 groups had a hand the paper's development.  The paper focuses on 11 key areas that must be tackled by the province to ensure farmers can play a positive role in environmental management.  Rolfe says those areas include the need to work together, time-lines for transition and compliance, and the elimination of the proposed water quality management zone maps.
