As of July 1st, the town of Emerson will no longer have its own volunteer ambulance service.  Central RHA South/East EMS supervisor Larry Skoglund says due to legislation requiring improved pre-hospital care, along with larger demands on staff, they were forced to cease operations.  He says, for example, an ambulance driver in the past, needed only a basic first aid level of training.  Now the driver and attendant are required to have an EMR level which he says can be difficult to attain with a volunteer service.  Skoglund says the Morris emergency service will now be responsible for coverage in the Emerson area.
