There was a fatal crash Wednesday morning in the Rural Municipality of Springfield.

At 5:50 Wednesday morning, Oakbank RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision along Highway 207 at Suthwyn Road, about 3.5 miles north of Deacon's Corner. When officers arrived on scene, they found a severely damaged car in the west ditch. A deceased male was located on the ground near the vehicle.

Initial investigation has determined that the vehicle was travelling north on Highway 207 when it failed to navigate a curve in the road, leaving the roadway and entering into the west ditch, where it then collided with the bank of an intersecting service road.

The 32-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the vehicle from Winnipeg was ejected from the vehicle.

Police say at this point in the investigation it is believed speed could be a factor in the collision. And, it appears the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The investigation continues with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Reconstructionist.
