The Fall Food Drive continues for one more day, collecting donations for Southeast Helping Hands.

Ken Dyck says youth groups have been going door-to-door this week, picking up food donations from residents of Steinbach, Blumenort and Mitchell. He values the young volunteers and hopes that this experience will encourage them to continue to find ways to contribute to the community in such a meaningful way.

If you missed that opportunity to donate, there is another chance today between 9am and 5pm. Bring non-perishable food items to the collection site at Clearspring Centre in Steinbach.

Dyck says the Fall Food Drive makes it possible for the food bank to continue offering hampers throughout the winter.

Helen was one of many people who donated on Thursday. She considered some of her favourites as she put together a bag full of food to give to the food bank.

"I put in coffee, because I'm a coffee lover, I can't imagine being without it,” she says. “And I put in oatmeal, I think that's a beautiful breakfast, a very healthy breakfast.”

The Fall Food Drive wraps up on Friday, October 7th at 5pm.
