It appears the provincial Progressive Conservatives have sided with their federal counterparts on the future of the Canadian Wheat Board.Monday night the NDP brought forward 2 motions; one calling for unanimous support of the single desk, the other calling for a farmer plebiscite on wheat and barley.  Agriculture Minister Rosann Wowchuk says the PC's voted against both.  Wowchuk notes the Tories attempted to add an ammendment to the second which would have brought it in line with the federal Conservatives position of holding only a barley vote now, and a wheat vote once changes are proposed.  The ammendment was defeated, and both motions passed.  Wowchuk says Manitoba Tories had an opportunity to help send a clear signal to Ottawa about its position on the Board, but instead chose to side with federal politicians instead of farmers.
