Most wheat and barley is in the early dough stage in the southeast, and some early seeded barley is approaching 35% moisture which means it could be swathed soon. This week's Manitoba Agriculture crop report states oats are in the late milk to early dough stage, and winter wheat swathing has just begun. Canola is finished flowering and pods have developed and seed is forming. Corn is 6 feet tall, tasseling ,and silks are beginning to emerge, while soybeans are beginning to set pods. Sunflowers continued rapid growth, and are in the bud stage with some early fields beginning to flower. Haying continues to be challenging, but significant progress was made in the last 2 weeks. Yields of alfalfa are in the 1.75 to 2.5 tonnes of dry matter per acre range.
