128 days after the 2021-2022 Manitoba Junior Hockey League season came to an end, a new season will begin.

The Steinbach Pistons play their home opener Friday, September 16th against the expansion Niverville Nighthawks.

The Pistons and Nighthawks will meet again the following night in Niverville.

The Dauphin Kings won the Turnbull Trophy defeating Steinbach 2-1 in the deciding seventh game of the final back on May 11th in front of a jam packed T.G. Smith Centre.

The MJHL-SJHL Showcase will return for the 2022-23 season. The showcase will be held in Manitoba for the first time, taking place January 31st and February 1st, 2023 at the Seven Oaks Sportsplex in Winnipeg. The joint Showcase will feature three select teams from each league made up with the top 60 players in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The three teams representing each league will consist of players aged 16 to 20 who will be selected by the coaches from their respective leagues. One team will be comprised of players who are 18 and under and two teams will be made up of players who are 20 and under. Each team will play two games during the event.
