The excitment is starting to build for the Centres Of Excellence project at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach.
The campaign was unveiled last week for a new cancercare unit and some more labour and delivery rooms.  Spokesperson Wilmar Chopyk says there's a real buzz in the community about this expansion and the interest and awareness is starting to grow.  Shirl Peters was a patient in Steinbach's cancer ward for a number of years.  It is currently located in the basement of the hospital.  She says surroundings can drag you down and the tight space at the hospital right now often makes you feel like you're in someone's way.  That's why this expansion project is so necessary.  The Bethesda Foundation needs to raise $4 million and so far it has taken in $2.6 million.
