Agape House is hosting a fundraiser tomorrow evening for International Women’s Day. The night will have wine, appetizers, and a full lineup of entertainment.

An elder will be doing the initial introduction, Carly Koop will be emceeing, and they will have speakers throughout the night and performers doing theatre, poetry, and musical storytelling.

Sandra Parris, Event/Fundraiser Coodinator, says all of the performers will be women.

“Specifically because it's International Women's Day, we've tried to keep the program presentation by women.”

Parris says the night is mostly geared toward presenting the accomplishments of women, and women within our community.

"This gives us an opportunity to earmark women, put women out there, and their achievements over the years.”

She also notes family violence is something that is a very real issue.

“To have the community there so that people can actually address the situation, it gives us an opportunity to help raise awareness of domestic violence within the community and help eradicate it.”

She says the event is Agape House’s main fundraiser for the year.

“This will help us toward the expansion of our programs, and keep our programs running and servicing the large geographical area that we service.”

They are hoping to raise $60,000 at this event to help them through the next year with programming and expansion.

She says they service as far North as Beausejour, as far South as the U.S.A. border, West to Winnipeg, and East toward the Ontario border.

“We want to be able to continue to provide our programs and services to the families in those communities.”

She hopes to see many people from the community there.

“Agape House is a nonprofit organization that pretty much centers around families who are in a situation of abuse. So it is a community event, it's not only for women. We have women. We have men. Everyone is invited.”

Agape House is also encouraging groups or companies to buy tables of eight.

“Whoever purchases a table of eight, they have their company logo or group logo displayed as a sponsor for that particular table.”

She thanks Saskatchewan Government Insurance Canada for being their event sponsor.

Agape House’s Women, Wine and Theatre Event is Friday, March 10th from 7-10pm at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Agape House and share your support in a fun environment with other community members.
