It took 4 ballots to finally determine the Conservative party candidate in Emerson constituency.

Woodmore area farmer Cliff Graydon got the nod at Tuesday night's nomination meeting in Altona. He beat out Larry Tetrault in the final vote. John Stephens was knocked off after the first ballot. Ronn Smith was eliminated after the second vote and Tammy Smook dropped off after the third ballot. Graydon called it an exciting evening and is impressed with how many people stayed until the wee hours of the morning to see it through to the end. 1,300 people packed out the Rhineland Pioneer Centre.
Just over 1,000 of those were registered delegates.
