Rod Brind'Amour scored his second goal of the game with 32 seconds left to lift Carolina past Edmonton 5-4 in the opening game of the Stanley Cup final. Brind'Amour got the winner when Oilers goalie Ty Conklin mishandled the puck behind the Edmonton net. Conklin had replaced Dwayne Roloson, who injured his right knee with six minutes remaining in the third period. Roloson is expected to miss the remainder of the series. Ray Whitney also scored twice for the Hurricanes who trailed 3-0 in the second period. Justin Williams added a short-handed goal. Ales Hemsky, Ethan Moreau, Fernando Pisani and Chris Pronger on a second period penalty shot replied for the Oilers. Game two goes Wednesday in Raleigh.
