The country's agriculture ministers will meet in Newfoundland later this month.  Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Minister Chuck Strahl says a number of issues will be covered including the CAIS program.  During a stop in Manitoba in May Strahl indicated if a consensus was reached at the meeting, major changes to the safety net could be implemented immediately.
Strahl feels it's safe to say almost all ag ministers in our country feel CAIS is not and has not done a good job.  His hope is a consensus will be reached, and if specific details are not available, at least the government's intentions could be announced at the meeting's conclusion.  The conference will take place June 24th thru 27th in St. John's.
