With three blood donor clinics next month in Steinbach, the community development manager is hoping we can help replenish the local and national blood banks.

Brett Lawrence says the summer months proved to be a difficult time with getting blood donations.

“Summertime in general is when people are going to the lake or on vacation or just staying at home and not thinking about blood donations,” he says. “But in addition to that, the national inventory was quite affected by wildfires on the east and west coast, as well as some flooding. And we had to cancel some clinics in BC because of that.”

Lawrence adds that many people were unable to donate blood because they were dealing with these natural disasters.

“We really saw this summer the importance of people coming out to donate and, in places that aren’t affected by disasters like that, like in Manitoba, it’s important that we come out to donate to help the national inventory.”

There are three blood donor clinics next month in Steinbach and there are many openings for October 16th and 30th.
