M.T.S. Allstream has announced a major expansion to cellular phone coverage in the province.
Kelvin Shepherd, President Consumer Markets says a $15-million,  30 site expansion is planned this year.  In the southeast, La Broquerie and Vita will receive cellular phone coverage.  In addition M.T.S. will be improving the speed and coverage of its wireless data network.  E.V.D.O. high speed data coverage will be rolled out in Steinbach, Oakbank, Anola, Lorette, St. Adolphe and Ste. Anne.  He says this will give users with an E.V.D.O. wireless device access to the internet at 10 times the speed of a telephone dial up connection.  The service will allow computers and laptops to access the internet through your cell phone.  The roll out has already begun in some areas with the entire project expected to be complete by year end.
