The province has approved a new back-up generator at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach.
The cost is $400,000.00.  David Driedger, vice-president of South Eastman Health, says it will replace 1 of 2 older units.  He says the generators are vital to maintain electrical systems at the hospital in event of a power failure.
Driedger adds the new generator will also have enough capacity to handle an upcoming expansion project at Bethesda.
